Children in the USA and UK are finding themselves with less frequent dental visits.
It is being found that fewer children in the United States and United Kingdom are making it to the dentist for regular checkups than before.

Fewer than half of Americans see a dentist each year and millions live in areas where access to dental care is severely limited, a new analysis from the health policy group Institute of Medicine (IOM) finds.
A severe shortage of dentists, especially those serving rural and minority groups, is contributing to the “persistent and systemic” barriers to oral health care, the report noted.
According to the report:
33 million Americans live in areas that are underserved by dental health professionals.
4.6 million children went without dental checkups in 2008 because their families could not afford them.
In 2006, almost two-thirds of retirees (62%) did not have adequate dental coverage.The IOM committee concluded that around 9,600 additional dentists would be needed to meet the needs of underserved populations in the United States.
“We have the lowest ratio of dentists to population that we have had in 100 years,” says Shelly Gehshan, who directs the Pew Children’s Dental Campaign. “This is a serious problem that leaves 40 to 50 million people out of reach of a dentist at any given moment.”
Gehshan tells WebMD that millions of Americans lack dental coverage or the ability to pay for dental care.
This means that millions of elderly and children won’t have proper dental care and therefore could run into major health issues down the road.

French toothpaste
Just a note for everyone out there: If you ever go to France, watch for their toothpaste. I am not sure what it is but they do not have the same kinds of paste as we do. There’s no big brands that I could find in their “Pharmacie”. All I could find were very plain looking tubes of blanches dentes or dents blancheur. Basically toothpaste with whitening. The paste itself tastes kind of bad too.
I found it to be odd and confusing, it took me about 10 minutes to pick which one I wanted. It wasn’t a language problem it was just a problem of not understanding why they didn’t have more mainstream brands.
So if you’re ever in France either bring enough of your own toothpaste, or be prepared to brush with flavorless bubble-less paste.

The problem is that a lot of these companies are either medical companies or dentists themselves. Those who aren’t don’t really offer discounts because the prices are already so low. But that’s not to say there aren’t any. We are looking for some for Dentaworks, Nuwhite, Mint Cosmetics, Smile 4 You and Smilebryte at the moment.

So as you can see we are a bit light on the discount codes. These teeth whitening companies tend to have low prices as it is so even if we could find a code I would be surprised if it was more than 10% off of a package.
The Smile 4 You code is 5% which doesn’t seem like a lot, but honestly it’s better than what most of the other companies are offering right now in terms of discounts.
Smilebryte
Not every product has to cost a fortune – that is Smile Bryte’s motto. They have a line of high quality products for teeth whitening at very low prices. We haven’t reviewed or received any of their product so it’s impossible to actually say for sure if it works or not. What we can tell you is that compared to any other product on the market, their price is around HALF.
In a way it makes you kind of wonder how they are able to produce the product at such a low price and sell it for a low price. Either the company is fine with making razor thin margins, or their product is low quality, or EVERY other product on the market is double the price for no reason in particular.
That’s not to say that Smilebryte doesn’t work. As we said we haven’t even received one or tried it.
Their website is very simple to navigate and to the point. Just click on their products link in the navigation in order to view what they have to offer. The laser that they suggest is basically a MUST have. These lasers accelerate the action of the gel on the teeth providing betters results much quicker. There may even be other applications and uses for this laser but at this point we’re not aware of any.
One thing that is concerning is that they have big links on their site for Wholesale, where the average consumer can see their wholesale pricing. Isn’t that a bit discouraging knowing you could be paying a lot less than the retail price and they even tell you HOW MUCH right there? We do find that a little unprofessional and strange to list it right there on the website.
We really don’t think you’d go wrong by trying the Smile Bryte Teeth Whitening system but there are a few strange things that pop up on the page that sort of raise red flags. So we’re just suggesting you not rely on the effectiveness of the product. Perhaps coming into the use thinking “If it works I will be pleasantly surprised and if not I am not upset I wasted the money.” you may be a lot more comfortable with the purchase.
NHS to raise dentist fees
In the UK it appears that teeth whitening will become more expensive in the very near future. The NHS has elected to raise the cost of going to a dentist. Everything from a cleaning to the visit itself will cost more. How much more exactly is unknown at this point – but any increase is too much.
It is estimated that fees will increase anywhere from 5 – 10%, with additional price hikes coming next year if the NHS crisis doesn’t stabilize.
Dentists will have a harder time convincing people to get extra high cost add-ons when the regular visits are costing more than ever before.

Let’s say you have a big day coming up and those coffee or tea or wine stains just won’t go away with brushing. You use the whitening tooth paste but still no effect. That’s because it’s just not strong enough to make an impact on your teeth. You need something much stronger.

For the best effect make sure to brush and floss and do a great job cleaning the little nooks and crannies of your teeth to ensure optimum results. If you have too much plaque or stuff on your teeth the whitening solution won’t have a chance to penetrate the teeth and whiten them. Not only that but you may get spots.
